The devastating August 2023 wildfires fundamentally altered West Maui, reducing Lahaina Printsellers’ historic Front Street gallery, production offices, and irreplaceable antique map archives to ashes. The catastrophic loss forced the retirement of original owners Alan and Char Walker, leaving a 45-year legacy hanging in the balance. However, the tragedy also sparked a profound story of resilience when long-time manager and head of operations, Chris Anderson—who tragically lost his own home in the disaster—stepped forward to take the helm. Refusing to let the gallery’s journey end, Anderson invested his savings and championed a full reset to preserve the business's deep ties to Maui's creative community.

Marking a major milestone in Lahaina's cultural recovery, Lahaina Printsellers officially reopened its doors at a new 1,100-square-foot space inside the newly renovated Lahaina Cannery Mall. Located near the main entrance, the revitalized gallery stands as a proud beacon of hope, becoming the first of the town’s lost fine art galleries to successfully rebuild and reopen a physical storefront post-fire. While the historic antique map division is gone, the space beautifully showcases Todd Kawasaki Photography, and other contemporary island pieces from local artists. By introducing community initiatives like "Aloha Art Fridays" and donating free art pieces to residents rebuilding their homes, the gallery is doing far more than just selling prints—it is actively helping to stitch the artistic heartbeat of Lahaina back together.
